about the
Sweethearts

There is nothing like this band in the world. These girls need to be heard.

Bernard Purdie, Drumming legend, USA.

Sweethearts are an all-female soul band known for tight musicianship, big sound and seriously good live shows. For over 35 years, they’ve been performing across Australia and on international stages, returning often to some of the world’s leading jazz and soul festivals like Montreux Jazz Festival, Jazz à Vienne and the Porretta Soul Festival.

Sweethearts will always be welcome at Montreux Jazz Festival.

Claudia Regolatti, Festival Programmer.

They’ve built a reputation as a respected live act, often sharing the stage with some of the genre’s most influential artists such as Bernard Purdie and Alfred ‘Pee Wee’ Ellis, former member of the original James Brown Band. With up to 30 musicians at a time, the band blends classic soul with original material, while creating space for young female musicians to develop and perform.

The Sweethearts once again provided the best entertainment of the whole weekend at the Porretta Soul Festival.
